How long have you been trading?
I have been trading for on and off, 10 years. I’ve made some money, then I’ve lost some money, then I’ve made some money, then I lost some money. I find it quite enthralling, and exhilarating. So I enjoy it.
What are you looking for from the conference?
I think what I’m looking for is a start. Some confidence to get me started, so that I can actually move from where I am at the moment, which is just watching and looking at a demo account to actually trading live, feeling confident enough to do that and let it run without switching it on and off.
Why did you switch to automated trading?
I feel that there’s so much emotion involved with actually pressing the mouse and entering the trade or exiting the trade. And exiting early, watching it run off like a mad thing going higher when you’ve just taken a small amount. I like the idea of taking the emotion out of it, and letting it do its thing as you’ve set it up to do.
What are your trading goals this year?
To be profitable, I think. I don’t mind if it’s one percent up. To me, it’s a bit of a learning experience. It’s learning to get into the algos. But if I can find some algos that are working and I’ve learned how to manage them and I’ve learned how to manage portfolios, I’ll feel it’s been a successful year.
